Working on the Bikes

  1. Dirt off Your Shoulder/Lying From You - Jay-Z and Linkin Park
This is the first track off of the Jay-Z/Linkin Park Collision Course, which dropped in 2004. You know those pieces of your past that you look at and it makes your current interests all, kind of, make sense? When my dad, that’s right my father, showed me this song, in or around 2004, it would unknowingly shape my musical taste for the next 17 years. Thanks pops, I appreciate you giving me the keys…

  2. That’s All - The Conservatives
Now this right here is just perfect oldies. You get the “ooo woo’s” from the chorus, you get the gliding ride cymbal, you get the introspection from the sub-par lover, you get the fact that all we really need is just a little love. “I don’t want to ask you for much, girl. Just let me love you” croon The Conservatives. Is there anything greater we can get?

  3. Cherry - Rina Sawayama
If you spend a lot of time in the Tent you’ll notice Rina making frequent appearances. She’s a mondo talented musician that has a Dua-like ear for exactly what a track needs. Knows all those nooks and crannies which she weaves vocal tracks into and out of. Extremely chef kissing fingers pop music right here.

  4. Lotus - Cage the Elephant
Man, what can I say about this song? It’s off Cage’s debut self titled, and I think it’s the hidden gem of the record honestly. This track is where you can really see those Shultz boys’ songwriting buds start to germinate. Plus that fuckin breakdown at the 2:08 mark? Sheesh!

  5. TISK TISK/COOKIES - Earl Sweatshirt
Earl is someone that I feel like I need to be listening to constantly. Whether it’s new, old, feature, full length, EP, anything, man, I’ll spin it if it’s Earl. I got a weird Rap Rushmore I think, but he’s on there. Earl is someone I feel like, when all is said and done, I won’t be looked at sideways for that take.

  6. Corduroy - Pearl Jam
A few months ago I texted my dad and asked him to make me a Pearl Jam playlist and a few hours later I had a better PJ curated playlist than Spotify could even hope to string together. Ask papa for a curated playlist. I’m sure he knows all the good Bob Dylan deep cuts so you don’t gotta sift through the bullshit. Send it my way when you get it though

  7. Bring ‘Em Out - NBA Youngboy
Ok this is the second week now that Youngboy has made an appearance on the list. You ever see those videos of dudes being like “how Youngboy fans make breakfast” or some shit? Yeah man I feel that about doing dishes after Smokemade Meats and Eats events. Just yossing them things

  8. Stumped - Goblin Cock
No, you read that right, Goblin Cock is a stoner/doom metal band from San Diego, California. Manned by Lord Phallus on guitar and vocals, Lick Myheart on guitar, Tinnitus Island on bass and Mylar Grinnnstein, GC chugs and punches with the best of them. Their album Bagged and Boarded is slaps front to back

  9. If I Could Talk to a Younger Me - Béla Fleck feat Abigail Washburn
A bit of a vibe switch, I know. I don’t really have much to say about this song, other than that I agree with it and that If I could also talk to a younger me, I would definitely say “go slow.”

Well, well, we seem to be closing another one out, huh. You did a great job this week, reward yourself with a little R and R (Righteous amount of Chick Fil A and Ridiculously cold Coors Light). That’s what I’d do anyway…
